Our Governors

Our Governors are very involved in the life of the school and it is their job to assist the Head Teacher in continuing to raise achievement for all. They meet each term as whole Governing Body and several times a term in different committees, each with a specific focus, e.g. Leadership and Management, Outcomes, Behaviour and Safety.

Our Governors come from a wide range of backgrounds and professions and are made up of community members, parents and teaching and non teaching staff.

Governors regularly visit school and meet with teachers and subject leaders in order to stay well informed. They are usually represented on recruitment panels. They keep up to date with regular training themselves.

Occasionally vacancies arise for parent Governors and when they do, we will inform you through the school newsletter.

Andy Watson

My name is Andy Watson, and I am the Chair of the Boynton School Governing body. I have been a parent governor for approximately four years, and I am keen to help the school to be as good as it can be. I am married to Jennifer, who has been involved in fundraising activities at Boynton School. We have four children. Our three eldest have all attended Boynton School and they enjoyed Boynton School immensely and have continued to do well at school and college. Our youngest child is still at Boynton School, for three days a week, and he is enjoying his time here, and achieving well. In the past I have worked as a Family Support worker at a Children's Centre, supporting parents with a range of issues such as parenting, debt advice, running stay and play sessions and Dads' groups. I am also a qualified counsellor. Boynton is a very good school and the children I have met in my role as a governor feel happy, safe and motivated to learn. I hope to support the school to become as good as it can be.

Karen Helbrow

Hello I am Karen Helbrow a parent Governor at Boynton School. I joined the Governing team as I wished to support our School at this exciting and potentially challenging time. I have a background of working with young people and adults with a learning disability and wish to share my knowledge in a supportive way to build upon the expertise the Boynton School staff team already have. I hope to add to the skills and knowledge the staff have by sharing my knowledge and experience from working within Adult Social  Care within the Local Authority. Which hopefully will in enhance the learning experience of all children within Boynton School.

Grace Chatterton

My name is Grace Chatterton, I am a Parent Governor of Boynton School. I work as a Project Manager for the Department for Education building and refurbishing schools across the country. I am keen to use my professional knowledge and understanding to help Boynton develop its own buildings to improve the learning environment for our pupils and staff. I am proud and passionate to be connected and represent Boynton School.

Emma Hobbs

I have over 20 years experience in Education as a senior leader and Headteacher in North London and East Yorkshire. I now work for the Local Authority as a Primary School Improvement Adviser. I have two children who both attended Boynton Primary School and flourished in its caring family environment. I care deeply about ensuring that all children have the right to the best starts in life through education, experience and opportunity.

Nicky Bass

I was a Parent Governor at Boynton until my son moved on to secondary school. At that point I became a co-opted governor and I am Chair of the Finance/Leadership and Management Committee.

I work part time at Boynton as School Admin. I also support and assist the PTA when needed. My hobbies are reading and sewing.
